Well, we're down to this, the final position round. Tied for first place in the Masters division are the teams of Dave Armstrong/Shad Rafferty and Kurt Kannus/Dave Kannus. So those teams will be gunning it out for the championship next week. Dave and Shad are looking to repeat as league champions after winning last year.
In the US Open division, there is a tie for second place. The teams of Greg Jordan/Wayne Ferris and Scott Barron/John Parker are tied. The tie breaker is the results of the their head-to-head match from earlier in the season. Greg and Wayne triumphed in that match 12.5 to 7.5, so they will have the honor of playing the first place team. Gerry Place and Bill Mosher hold a big 10-and-a-half point lead over the second places teams, so it will take a couple of great rounds for Greg and Wayne to jump up into first place.
After setting a record in the skins game last week with six skins being paid out, we had only one skin this week. Terry Tinti took the whole pot of $72.
We're all set for our year-end tournament and banquet on Saturday, August 24. We will be teeing off at 9:00am sharp. I'm still tracking down some people to find out if they'll be playing, so I'll have the teams for the tournament made up sometime next week.
Week #16 honors go to the following individuals:
Low gross:Masters Division - 35 - Dave Armstrong (two weeks in a row - Dave's en fuego!)
US Open Division - 40 - Jason Klben and Wayne Ferris
Low net:Masters Division - 32 - Tom Deering, Chris Fox and Marty Day
US Open Division - 29 - Les Buchanan (which he shot against my partner Jason, who had a net 30 - ouch!)
Skins: Terry Tinti on #12 - If only my partner didn't lag his five-foot birdie putt on #12, we could've carried the money over.
CTTP: Rich DeJong - 25' 5" (Just 5" closer than Gary Wilson. Hmmm, just how much did you stretch the tape, Rich?)
