We have new leaders in the Masters division as Steve Walden and Tom Keane take over the top spot. They hold a two point lead over Kurt Kannus and Dave Kannus.
Things have tightened up in the US Open division as Scott Barron and John Parker now hold a slim half point lead over two teams tied for second place - Gerry Place\Bill Mosher and Jason Klaben\Jim Myers.
This week is our first position round so there's plenty of opportunity to move up or down the standings quickly. By the way, ties in the standings are resolved by looking at the standings from the previous week. Fortunately, there's only one tie to resolve, but it's an important one as it deals with which second place team in the US Open division gets to play the first place team. In this case, since Place\Mosher held a higher position before last week, they get to play the first place team, while Klaben\Myers get to play the fourth place team.
A reminder that our mid-year tournament and banquet is next week, the 26th. I haven't decided on a format yet. Apart from captain and crew, I'm thinking about using a four-man best ball format with teams matched up to even out their handicaps (low team total handicap matched up with high team total handicap). This way teams can play together for at least this tournament, since I know a fair number of you would prefer to golf with your partners. Any other suggestions? Alternate shot? I'm very open to suggestions on this. Since I'll match up teams rather than individuals, you can find your own subs for this tournament. I'd still like to reward the subs that have golfed the most with the opportunity to eat at our banquet, so if you'd like me to find a sub for you for the 26th, I'd be happy to.
Another reminder that our year end tournament and banquet is on Saturday, August 24th. I've seen notices that another captain and crew tournament run by NYSEG folks is going on that day, so I wanted to send a reminder out so that no one got signed up for both.
Also, I've updated the roster and schedule on the web site. You can link to it here: http://www.geocities.com/wednitegolf/roster02.htm
