The rain almost held off long enough but many of us got soaked. Only one team did not finish their round though, so it could have been worse.
Since we've had a couple of weeks now where there's been some slow play, let me remind everyone of some tips for keeping things moving along:
Be ready when it's your turn.
If you're ready to hit your shot and the others in your foursome aren't, don't worry about who is "away".
Once you begin putting, you have the option to "putt out" if you wish. You are not required to mark your ball and let someone else who is "away" putt.
You do NOT have to find your ball if it is in a "lateral hazard". The red stakes denote a "lateral hazard" on some of the woods holes. Just estimate where the ball crossed the hazard and drop the ball two clubs lengths laterally from that spot or drop the ball at any point that keeps that spot between you and the hole.
Five minute max to look for a lost ball. Also, hit your next shot before helping others look for a lost ball.
Keep an eye on your ball if it strays off the fairway. Pick out a landmark.
Hit a provisional ball if you think your ball may be lost or out of bounds. This eliminates having to go back and re-hit if the ball is not found.
Once you reach the green, leave your cart in the direction heading to the next hole.
Mark your scores on the scorecard on the tee at the next hole.
Take a number of clubs to your ball while your cart partner drives to his ball.
If you find that there is no one in front of you, you are playing too slowly. Find a way to speed up play.
