Congratulations to our league champions, Nate Evangelista and Dave Evangelista, who defeated second-place team Dick Biviano and Steve Tinker 13 to 7. The rest of the playoff teams ended up like this: 3rd Place - Scott/Dow, 4th - Christopher/Bishop, 5th - Barron/Reynolds, 6th - Steiner/Mikula, 7th - Sullivan/Myers, 8th - VanOstrand/Anderson.
In the mini-tournament, they weren't consistent, but they got the job done. Rod Griffiths and Curt Vanderbilt took 14.5 points the first week, 5 points the second week and a big 17.5 points the third week to win first place by a half point over Steve Miller and Ron Kratzer.
This week we will start our 18-hole year-end tournament. You will play with your assigned team both this week and next and will play captain and crew format both weeks. We are on the back this week and the front the week after that. Payout for the tournament will be based on combined score for the two weeks. If a rainout occurs either week, the tournament will be reduced to a 9-hole tournament. The banquet (and payouts for the league) will take place on the 28th regardless of the weather.
There will be long drive and closest-to-the-pin contests both weeks that will be open to everyone - no fee for the CTTP contest. There will be team skins available as well each week for $20 per team per week. The skins will be paid out each week afterwards as usual so that subs can be paid for that week.
Subs can be found as usual, but only subs that are eligible (played already during this season). I'll be sending out the team pairings soon, but the teams are fairly uneven (I've done the best I can to even out the four-man teams but there is only so much I can do without breaking up the two-man teams of the regular league). So, I'm not too worried about whether the sub has a different handicap than the person they're subbing for, but I reserve the right to give a penalty stroke to any team whose handicap goes too far away from the other teams when a sub is introduced. Please let me know of your subs ahead of time as usual.
The scorecard given to your team has room for the 18-hole scores, but please turn them in each week so I can figure out skins and tournament standings.
