We had a great night for golfing and the tournament was a lot of fun. Thanks to Scott Steiner for arranging the banquet and the staff at Stonehedges for a nice meal. Hopefully we can go back to a two-week tournament next year.
We kept the same officers as last year - Mike Scott - President, Scott Steiner - Treasurer and myself - Secretary. We voted in a few changes for next season. One of them is that no new subs for the last three weeks only applies to the teams still alive in the playoffs, assuming we don't make major changes to the playoff format (see below).
Also, we changed the yellow tee rule. Anyone who turns 70 at any point in the calendar year (even December) may play from the yellow tees that same year regardless of handicap. Anyone who turns 65 in the calendar year may play from the yellow tees if their average handicap for the whole previous year was 10 or higher. Subs may only play from the yellow tees if they turn 70 or they are 65, have a handicap of 10+ and were a regular league member in the previous season. Once someone is eligible for the yellow tees, they will continue to remain eligible for the yellow tees in future seasons regardless of their current handicap. If anyone thinks they may be eligible for the yellow tees next season, please let me know and I will double-check their handicap (don't use the handicap shown in the final standings as that only uses 5 scores, not the whole season). Also, I need to know who is switching from the white tees to the yellow tees beforehand as you'll start in with a new handicap the first week.
We are open to suggestions for new playoff/regular season schedules. I will take any suggestions, compile them and send them out to the league for a vote sometime this winter. Please email me your suggestions. Thanks!
I am looking to expand the league back up to 24 teams. We are currently at 22 teams, so we need 2 teams plus more if some teams don't come back next year. I already have one new team lined up, but if you know of anyone who might like to join, please send me their contact information and I'll get a hold of them.
Results of the year-end tournament:
1st place (31) - Tony Macera, Doug Boles, Tim Walters and Tom Boles
2nd place (32) - Steve Miller, Mike Scott, Will Munson and Jon Munson
3rd place (32) - Les Richmond, Wayne Sherwood, Al Christopher and Steve Gobel
4th place (33) - Scott Steiner, Jeff Bowman, Dan Conley and Tom Burke
Skins: Richmond/Sherwood/Christopher/Gobel on #6
Long drive: David Dow
CTTP: 7' 4" - Felix Ramat (won last year as well)
It's been another good year of golf and I hope to see you all next year!
